The Universidad de La Rioja took part last week in the 3rd Conference on Gastronomic Packaging Design, held at the Esdir Escuela Superior de Diseño de La Rioja. The event brought together professionals, lecturers and students to reflect on design applied to the agri-food sector and its strategic role in enhancing the value of high-quality gastronomic products.
As part of the conference programme, a presentation was given on EU-GIFT, the European university alliance focused on quality-differentiated food systems and the wine sector. The presentation introduced the alliance’s objectives, values and main areas of work, highlighting its commitment to sustainability, innovation and the strong connection between territory, culture and knowledge.
EU-GIFT is made up of leading European higher education institutions specialising in agri-food systems and viticulture, including Bordeaux Sciences Agro, Eszterházy Károly Katolikus Egyetem, Hochschule Geisenheim University, the Civic Engagement Center at USAMV Cluj, the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, and the Università degli Studi di Verona (UNIVR). The alliance promotes academic and scientific cooperation aimed at addressing current challenges in the sector from a European and interdisciplinary perspective.
The participation of the University of La Rioja in this conference reinforces its commitment to disseminating strategic European projects and fostering dialogue between design, academia and the agri-food sector. It also highlights the importance of packaging design as a key tool for communication, identity and sustainability in gastronomy, in line with the values and objectives of EU-GIFT.
