EU-GIFT members take part in the 25th Rhine-Main Tree Care Conference at Hochschule Geisenheim University
Geisenheim, 24-25 Septiembre 2026
Members of the EU-GIFT community joined experts, researchers and professionals at Hochschule Geisenheim University for the 25th Rhine-Main Tree Care Conference, held as part of the European Agri-Food Week
Under the theme “Review and Outlook”, the two-day conference brought together representatives from academia and professional practice to reflect on 25 years of developments in urban tree care and, above all, to explore the challenges that cities and green spaces will face in the future. The programme was designed to encourage exchange between participants, speakers and professionals from the sector.
The event addressed a wide range of topics related to trees in urban environments, including climate change and urban greenery, the practical application of the i-Tree tool, urban forestry, future-proof tree species, biodiversity in native and non-native street tree canopies, planting strategies and plant protection.
Participants also had the opportunity to discover Hochschule Geisenheim University from a different perspective through guided campus tours, gaining insights into the university’s teaching and research activities. The first day concluded with an informal get-together, providing an additional opportunity for networking and exchange.
The conference formed part of the Agri-Food Week within the EU-GIFT initiative, providing another opportunity for members of the alliance to engage with experts and practitioners and to exchange knowledge on sustainability, climate adaptation and the future of Europe’s regions.
Through activities such as this, EU-GIFT strengthens the connection between science and practice and promotes collaboration and knowledge exchange across Europe, addressing common challenges from different disciplines and perspectives.
