EU-GIFT Agri Food Week is coming to Eger! – A Week of Professional Experiences and Local Discoveries

Eszterházy Károly Catholic University (EKCU) will host the EU-GIFT Agrifood Week from 9 to 13 November, welcoming students for a week dedicated to discovering the Hungarian agri-food sector.

The event offers participating students a varied programme combining professional insights, practical experiences and opportunities to discover the Hungarian agri-food sector. During the week, students will take part in visits to local wineries and a brewery, as well as gain insight into traditional cooperage and the craft of barrel-making. The programme will also address key topics such as geographical indications (GIs), regional food identity and the role of local products in preserving cultural heritage. In addition, expert presentations and professional discussions will focus on sustainability and climate adaptation, as well as the relationship between wine and health and the principles of food pairing.

Through these activities, students will have the opportunity to connect academic knowledge with real-life industry practices and explore how regional traditions, local heritage and innovation contribute to shaping a more sustainable European agri-food sector.

The programme will provide an opportunity to gain new professional perspectives, discover the region’s distinctive values and strengthen international connections in the field of agri-food.
