EU-GIFT Staff Week in Geisenheim Fostered Knowledge Exchange and Strategic Cooperation
A week of professional exchange, international collaboration, and new proposals to promote innovation in European higher education
From 29 June to 3 July 2026, Hochschule Geisenheim University hosted the EU-GIFT Staff Week, bringing together representatives from the alliance’s partner universities for a week of professional exchange, networking, and collaboration. The programme focused on two key themes shaping the future of European higher education: micro-credentials and their implementation and recognition, as well as innovative approaches to services for students and staff at EU-GIFT universities.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in discussions on the development of a common framework for micro-credentials within the EU-GIFT alliance, sharing institutional experiences and exploring topics such as lifelong learning, digitalisation, recognition procedures, quality assurance, and digital certification. At the same time, administrative professionals from International Offices, Examination Offices, Human Resources, and Career Services exchanged best practices on international mobility, student and staff support services, career development, and the automatic recognition of studies. The programme provided an excellent platform for identifying common challenges, exchanging innovative ideas, and strengthening cooperation among partner institutions.
The Staff Week began with a welcome at Hochschule Geisenheim University, followed by an introduction to the EU-GIFT project and presentations by the partner universities. During the following days, participants attended keynote lectures, campus tours, and interactive working sessions, creating opportunities for professional dialogue and the development of future joint initiatives.
Alongside the academic programme, participants also had the opportunity to strengthen their international network through cultural and social activities. An excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a joint dinner, and a wine tasting in the Geisenheim University Cellar provided an ideal setting for informal discussions and intercultural exchange.
The Staff Week concluded with sessions dedicated to future cooperation opportunities and a closing discussion summarising the outcomes of the event. The programme once again highlighted the value of the EU-GIFT alliance in fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and jointly developing innovative solutions for higher education.
Eszterházy Károly Catholic University was pleased to contribute to the discussions and looks forward to continuing its close cooperation with the EU-GIFT partners in the upcoming project activities.
